The well-known SUV has been around for nearly two and a half decades and it is still one of the first that comes to mind when someone mentions Nissan SUV. However, things have changed drastically since the launch of the original model, which was a genuine BoF off-roader, designed to compete with North American SUVs. The last redesign and that was in 2012, has changed the picture entirely and the Pathfinder is now a crossover. It is a typical three-row family hauler and we don’t expect that the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder redesign will bring any core changes.
Moreover, many aspects of the new generation will get evolutionary changes only, and that particularly refers to mechanics. On the other side, we count on completely new aesthetics, as well as on a much better-looking cabin. Novelties are about to come on the inside as well, particularly in terms of a new hybrid version. The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder release date should be scheduled for the first half of 2021.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Redesign
When it comes to the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder redesign, the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Interestingly, the Japanese manufacturer will carry on with a familiar D platform, which underprints the current model. However, it will undergo significant updates and upgrades, so the new model will be able to provide a much better driving experience.
Of course, we will see a completely new chassis setup, though it is still hard to say anything more about possible dimensions changes. The current model measures around 114.2 inches in wheelbase and 197.2 inches in the overall length, which are quite typical dimensions for the class. Therefore, the new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder may grow for a bit, but we definitely don’t expect to see anything significant.
Of course, the most notable changes of every redesign are those in terms of aesthetics. The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder redesign won’t be any different and we count on significant improvements with the upcoming model. The current generation has never been a beauty but it doesn’t start to look outdated either. That neutral approach will be changed with the new model, as the rendering photos promise a lot of great things.
The new model is still under a camouflage but from what we can see on rendering photos, things look really promising. The front end will take a lot of inspiration from the recently updated Patrol. That would be a new approach to the famous V-Motion grille design, which looks much bolder in this case. Also, there are new headlights, divided into two groups. The rest of the vehicle looks quite typical for the class, though we have to say that the rear end looks slightly boxier compared to the outgoing model.
At this point, we don’t know much about the interior. Still, we know for sure that the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will come with completely new dashboard design. Of course, we count on higher-quality materials and more impressive aesthetics. Still, the most interesting thing about the new cabin will be new tech goodies. From what we know so far, the new model will come with a digital instrument cluster. Of course, we will see a large infotainment screen at the center stack, while climate controls will probably remain physical if we can rely on the latest rumors.
When it comes to interior space and cargo area, we don’t expect to see significant changes. The amount of legroom will remain similar, though the third row may offer a little bit more space. The same thing goes for the cargo area, though we have to say that the current model already offers pretty respectable numbers.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Engines
Novelties will come under the hood as well. Still, base models will carry on with a familiar 3.5-liter V6 engine, though we might see some slight power boost. On the other side, we presume that the new turbo-four will be also offered. While the V6 will probably carry on with CVT, the turbo-four will most likely come in pair with a new 9-speed automatic transmission, reports say.
Besides the two gasoline units, the new Pathfinder will come in a hybrid version as well. However, the electrified version won’t be ready for the initial launch and we will have to wait for some more time. Moreover, we still don’t know any particular details about the new setup.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Release Date and Price
The company’s initial plan was to launch the new model by the end of this year. However, the launch has been delayed, due to the Coronavirus outbreak and the new model will probably hit the market in the first half of 2021, as the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. When it comes to the price, the current model starts around 32.000 dollars. Key players in the segment are models like Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, Ford Explorer etc.
