The iconic SUV is about to receive a complete overhaul in the near future. According to the latest reports, the new version will have a premiere this August and we can already hear numerous reports that suggest all kinds of different novelties. Still, most of them are about the powertrain and it looks pretty much certain that the new model will come as the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid. We could see one of the more electrified options and some reports suggest that gasoline units will be discontinued completely.
Of course, new powertrain options won’t be the only novelties this redesign is about to bring. You may count on all kinds of improvements, starting from a new platform, new aesthetics, and a completely redesigned interior. Speaking of the interior, we expect that the new model will feature notably longer wheelbase and more space on the inside. As we’ve just mentioned, the new model will probably have a premiere this August. However, it is still early to talk about the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid for and availability in general.
2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid Powertrain
Of course, the most interesting aspect of the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid is the powertrain. At this point, we are getting some pretty opposite reports and the only thing that seems for sure is that we are about to see a V6-based system. Some reports suggest a detuned version of LS 500h’s powertrain and a max output of 300 horsepower. However, that definitely seems insufficient for a legend like this, even if we talk about international markets. Some experts suggest this version of powertrain could be offered in the smaller Land Cruiser, known also as Prado.
On the other side, the full-size Land Cruiser Hybrid is expected to feature significantly more power. If the new version is about to come to North America, we presume it would feature the same setup as the upcoming next-generation Tundra, which would mean around 450 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, the abroad version would do the job with 354 horsepower, which is the output of LS 500h. According to some reports, this version will replace not just gasoline, but the V8 turbodiesel as well. Still, we believe that more conventional engine options will remain in the offer, at least in some markets.
2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid Redesign
There is no doubt that this redesign is about to bring a lot of novelties. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Of course, that will be a new, BoF version of the TNGA architecture, which is expected to bring significant improvements compared to the current model, especially in terms of weight savings. Along with a new hybrid powertrain, this should bring significant improvements in terms of fuel economy. So, it’s no wonder that some reports suggest that 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid mpg ratings could go over 25 miles per gallon, which sounds pretty amazing, especially if we consider the current model’s economy.
Of course, the upcoming redesign is also expected to bring a completely new styling. Still, we don’t expect to see any radical changes, but rather evolutionary changes only.
Big changes are expected on the inside as well. As we already mentioned, the new model is expected to feature longer wheelbase. This means we could expect more space on the inside. With 112.5 inches between the axles, it’s no wonder that the current model isn’t particularly spacious in the third row, so this is where we expect the biggest improvements.
Of course, we count on a completely new dashboard design as well. The current model features impressive build quality but also shows its age in terms of aesthetics. The new 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid will fix this issue and we have no doubt that the new model will be extremely opulent in all aspects. Of course, the new model will come with all kinds of safety features. We also count on an impressive list of tech goodies.
2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid Release Date
As we already mentioned, we expect that the new model will have a premiere this August. On the other side, more precise information about the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid release date is still unavailable.
