Although the current generation of this full-size SUV isn’t that old, there is a lot of talk about the 2021 Nissan Armada redesign. The reason is quite simple. Although this model has been introduced in North America in 2016, it is actually a much older vehicle, considering that it is pretty much a copycat of the legendary Patrol, which has been sold overseas in the current form since 2010. As a decade-old vehicle, it definitely has a lot of drawbacks if we compared it with much younger competitors.
Fortunately, the Patrol has received a significant update last year and we expect that the same portion of changes will come to the 2021 Nissan Armada as well. This includes mostly styling updates, though interior novelties are about to come as well. When it comes to the powertrain and mechanics in general, we don’t expect that many things will be changed. The new Armada should hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.
2021 Nissan Armada Redesign Changes
When it comes to the 2021 Nissan Armada redesign changes, we can say there will be a lot of them. Is that enough to call this update a redesign? Probably not, as the famous Y62 platform will carry on, as well as most of the mechanical parts. On the other side, we are about to see a full load of styling updates.
The new styling has been previewed with the new Patrol. We expect that the new Armada will feature identical styling. This means we may count on a completely new face, which is characterized by a new version of the V-Motion grille, as well as with new, pretty futuristic headlights, which comes with pretty attractive LED shapes. Furthermore, there is a front bumper, which completes the front end look and makes it feel completely new.
The other end of the SUV won’t come with such massive changes. We will see the new taillights, as well as a modified tailgate. Still, the overall layout will remain largely the same. Finally, we could see typical mid-cycle updates, such as new wheels, color options etc.
Interior changes are expected as well. However, we don’t expect the exact Patrol copy in this case. The new Patrol comes with a dual-screen setup, similar to what we can find in several Infiniti models. On the other side, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Nissan Armada redesign changes will include a new 9.0-inch touchscreen that has been introduced with the refreshed Titan. On the other side, we would definitely like to see that astonishing digital instrument cluster from Patrol.
The rest of the interior is expected to remain the same. Of course, new trims and color schemes are always possible, but the overall dashboard design is expected to remain untouched. Also, count on the same interior dimensions, which means three rows of seats and a quite decent cargo volume.
Of course, we also count on new features, particularly when it comes to hi-tech goodies. The first that comes to mind is the new infotainment system, which will come with various updates and work on a new, bigger touchscreen. Smartphone goodies like Android Auto and Apple Car Play will finally become part of the standard equipment.
We also count on new safety features, as was the case with the new Patrol. Those are things like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The current list of optional features includes things like rain-sensing windshield wipers, a surround-view parking camera system, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, a rearview camera mirror, rear cross-traffic alert. We have no doubt that some of these will become standard features in the new model.
2021 Nissan Armada Redesign – Engine
You can call it the 2021 Nissan Armada redesign or not, but one thing certainly won’t change. Of course, we are talking about a well-known 5.6-liter V8 engine, which currently delivers around 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. This engine will definitely carry on in the next year, though there is a chance to see some power boost for this occasion. On the other side, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Nissan Armada will get a new 9-speed transmission, instead of the current 7-speed gearbox.
2021 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price
We expect that the new version will come a little bit earlier than usual, but still within the second half of the year. When it comes to the 2021 Nissan Armada price, we don’t expect significant changes compared to the current model, which starts at around 47.100 dollars.
When it comes to the full redesign, we are pretty sure it won’t happen in the next several years. The next generation of this model will probably come with a completely new platform, with all kinds of new technologies, which may include electrified powertrain as well. Allegedly, the new Patrol/Armada will be developed together with the next-generation Pajero.
