The large crossover has been around for a couple of years. Despite several strong points, sales aren’t going as GM expected, so the company decided to make a pretty quick refresh. This mid-cycle update is about to bring a nice number of changes, mostly visual. A couple of testing models have already been spied and one of them is the next version on special appearance package, which will come as 2021 Chevy Traverse Redline.
This package is a pretty familiar thing in the brand’s lineup. It is available in nine models, including this one. In all cases, it’s mostly about exclusive styling details, which are mostly in terms of black details. The upcoming model won’t be an exception, so we count on similar exclusive features but freshened up with this mid-cycle update. The rest of the design characteristics is about to remain pretty much the same. We expect to see 2021 Chevy Traverse Redline for sale in the second half of the year.
2021 Chevy Traverse Redline Design
When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2021 Chevy Traverse Redline Edition has always been characterized by a lot of exclusive details. Some of the highlights one previous year models are things like 20-inch gloss black-painted aluminum wheels with red accents, gloss Black window surround, dark tail lamps, black mirror caps and door handles, black painted rocker and wheel openings with Black Ice inserts, black Ice grille and license plate applique, Black Ice fog lamp bezels, black Traverse badges with red outline, black Chevrolet bowtie badging, black roof rails, dual Skyscape 2-panel power sunroof and many more.
Of course, all these features are about to carry on for the next year. We count on a couple of novelties as well. The testing model still wears a camouflage, so we can’t see too many things, although there are new trapezoid exhaust pipes, a notable difference if you look at other versions.
The new version will also all the mid-cycle changes that are about to come to all models in the lineup. This particularly refers to the front end, where we expect to see a new face, with new headlights, grille, bumper and other parts, all inspired by the new Blazer.
Changes on the inside should come as well, though we don’t expect to see too many of them. A couple of tweaks to the dashboard are possible, but those changes should affect all Traverse models. This edition is actually a Premier trim, so we count on a familiar approach when it comes to materials, color schemes etc.
The thing that definitely won’t change is the interior space, where this crossover really shines. This is one of the most spacious models in the class, with three extremely generous rows of seats, all adult-friendly. Also, you may count on 28 cubic feet behind the third row, while the overall cargo volume goes up to impressive 98.2 cubic feet.
Novelties in terms of standard equipment will come as well, though we don’t expect too many of them. As we’ve just mentioned, this version is essentially the Premier trim, so we count on a familiar list of features. The 2021 Chevy Traverse Redline Premier will continue to stand out with things like leather upholstery, a hands-free liftgate, ventilated front seats, wireless device charging and optional sunroof.
This version is also loaded with numerous safety features. some of the highlights are things like forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, rear parking sensors. Some soucres suggest that adaptive cruise control might be added to the list of standard features, though we are still waiting to hear something from the company on this matter.
2021 Chevy Traverse Redline Engine
Despite the attractive look, this version isn’t any different compared to the rest of the lineup. It also comes with a familiar 3.6-liter V6. This engine offers an ample amount of power, though it definitely isn’t a performer. The max output goes around 310 horsepower and the ride is pretty smooth. A nine-speed automatic works very well in pair with this. The only complaint goes to the fact that the start-stop function can’t be disabled.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on typical ratings for the class. In numbers, that would be around 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Of course, numbers will be slightly lower if you pick a model with all-wheel drive.
2021 Chevy Traverse Redline Release Date and Price
We expect to see the new version in the second half of the year. The current model goes around 48.500 dollars and we don’t expect that the 2021 Chevy Traverse Redline price will be significantly different. When it comes to rivals, this model will compete with hi-grade trim levels of models like Ford Explorer, VW Atlas etc.
