The all-new Suburban is around the corner and its premiere is just a month away from us. Those are the latest reports about the famous full-size SUV, which is about to receive a complete overhaul. Moreover, all GM full-size SUVs are about to receive an overhaul, including Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade. Some of them will be premiered along with the new 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. According to the latest reports, this will happen on December 10th, when we are about to finally see the unveiled version of the SUV, which has been riding on the road with heavy cover for months.
We have big expectations for the new model. The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban redesign should bring improvements in various aspects, starting from better driving characteristics, performances, efficiency etc. Naturally, there is a new styling to come, as well as a completely new cabin with more style and finer materials. Finally, there are some novelties under the hood that we are about to see.
2021 Chevrolet Suburban Redesign
The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban will bring a lot of novelties. First of all, there is a new platform, codenamed T1. This architecture already debuted in new Silverado and Sierra models and it brings some pretty obvious improvements. First of all, there is a notable weight reduction. The new SUV is about to be 300 pounds lighter compared to the outgoing model. Also, we count on notable improvements in terms of driving characteristics. In terms of size, we don’t expect bigger changes, as the current model is already pretty huge and definitely doesn’t lack legroom nor cargo space.
The new model will bring some pretty interesting technical novelties as well. Among the most interesting ones is definitely a new suspension setup. If you look at spy shots of the testing models from the back, you can easily notice an independent rear suspension, which should be a standard feature in this SUV. There’s no doubt that this feature will significantly improve comfort and overall driving characteristics.
When it comes to the styling, it is hard to talk about details, as the testing model is still under heavy camouflage. Still, we may presume it will have a lot of things in common with the new Silverado. This particularly refers to the front end, where the two models should be pretty much identical. The rest of the vehicle, though, will come in a completely different manner. Of course, we count on a typical SUV shape, with a wagon-like body style, which will provide both attractive styling and practical cabin. As we already mentioned, the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban will be unveiled in about a month and then we will find out the look of the new model.
Like most vehicles under Chevy’s badge, the current generation of Suburban isn’t particularly amazing on the inside. Typical for this company, there is a lot of odd design solutions inside the cabin, while the overall interior quality is lower compared to most rivals. Therefore, we count on big improvements. The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban interior should be better in so many ways. The first thing that comes to mind is the dashboard design, which should look much more opulent. Also, we count on a full load of tech goodies, though that has never been a problem with this SUV.
As we already mentioned, the new model probably won’t feature many different dimensions. Therefore, we may count on a similar amount of interior space, which is quite impressive in the current model. All three rows are generous with legroom and this SUV can comfortably accommodate 8 adult passengers. Of course, versions with second-row captain’s chairs should be available as well. When it comes to the cargo area, we expect similar ratings to the outgoing model.
2021 Chevrolet Suburban Engines
The engine lineup should be notably expanded with the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban redesign. First of all, there is a big chance to see a new 2.7-liter turbo-four in the offer. The new engine is good for about 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque and should be an efficient alternative to V8 units. Speaking of V8 units, the two well-known engines will remain in the offer. Of course, there is a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Also, there’s a bigger 6.2-liter unit, which is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban Diesel is another thing we could see in the new model. Of course, that would be a new 3.0-liter inline-six, which is good for about 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
2021 Chevrolet Suburban Release Date and Price
When it comes to the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban release date, the premier is scheduled for December 10th. However, sales will probably start in the first quarter of the next year. The base price should go around 50-55.000 dollars.
