The Bavarian carmaker is coming with big novelties for the next year. Although we are talking about a model that has been around for just a couple of years, the next year will bring a new, hi-performance version, which will come as the 2021 BMW Alpina XB7. This will be the most capable version of the full-size SUV, which is the only BMW that comes standard with three rows of seats. As you may presume, it will come with a more powerful engine, as well as numerous other upgrades, both in terms of aesthetics and mechanics. Upgrades are about to come on the inside.
On the other side, the rest of the lineup will carry on in the same way. You may count on the same design, engines and features. Still, we won’t be surprised if we see a couple of additions to the list of standard equipment. The 2021 BMW Alpina XB7 will come in the third quarter of the year.
2021 BMW Alpina XB7 Engine and Performances
As you may presume, the most interesting part of the 2021 BMW Alpina XB7 will be the powertrain department. Under the hood, you may count on a familiar 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which will be specially tuned for this occasion. The max output will go up to 612 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque in this case. With such numbers, the 2021 BMW Alpina XB7 should be able to hit sixty in about four seconds. That’s almost a half-second faster compared to the M50i version.
Of course, the engine will come in pair with 8-speed transmission, while the top speed is expected to go around 180 horsepower. Those are some pretty serious numbers. Speaking of numbers, we still don’t know the details about the fuel economy.
2021 BMW Alpina XB7 Design
Besides significantly higher output, the 2021 BMW Alpina XB7 will come with a plethora of other upgrades. Of course, many of them will be in terms of mechanics, as a proper chassis enhancement would be required for this amount of power. Count on a completely new suspension setup, which will make this SUV stiffer, lower to the ground and even better in corners. Of course, new brakes are also expected and from what we can see on photos, those would be big Brembo units.
Besides notable mechanical upgrades, the 2021 BMW Alpina XB7 will also come with loads of visual upgrades. Of course, new wheels are some of the first things that come to mind and this model will come with new 21-inch units. Optionally, you can get even bigger, 23-inch wheels with legendary Alpina spokes. The list of highlights will also include goodies like new exhaust pipes, new bumpers and many more. Exclusive color options seem like a certain thing too.
When it comes to interior details, we also count on a lot of exclusivities. Of course, unique color schemes are some of the things that come to mind, as well are several “Alpina” badges around the cabin. Furthermore, we may see new seats, with better support and unique stitching.
Still, most of the cabin is about to remain the same. You may count on pretty much the same layout and standard three rows of seats. This is the only BMW that accommodates seven passengers in the standard version. Of course, the captain’s chairs in the second row are also expected.
When it comes to standard equipment, we expect that the list will be really long, as we are talking about the new range-topping version. Therefore, count on all the standard features and loads of additions. Currently, standard models come with things like a 12.3-inch iDrive infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, navigation, HD Radio, satellite radio, 10 speakers, Bluetooth, three USB ports, 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, quad-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic moonroof, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a wireless smartphone charging pad etc.
We also count on lots of additions from the list of options, which currently includes goodies like remote start, five-zone automatic climate control, heated and cooled cupholders, rear-seat entertainment screens, premium audio system and more.
When it comes to safety systems, the new XB7 will certainly come standard with things like a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive headlights with automatic high beams, a driver drowsiness monitor, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. Additionally, you may count on available hands-free parallel parking assist, a night vision camera, a head-up display etc.
