The flagship crossover from Ingolstadt company arrived last year and experts are already speculating about possible novelties for the next one. This fancy coupe crossover is Audi’s finest work so far, at least when it comes to crossovers, and it definitely has a lot of things to show. Of course, it is highly related to other premium crossovers from the VW Group, including Urus, Bentayga, Touareg and Cayenne. All these models ride on the same platform, but the 2021 Audi Q8 will once again stand out thanks to its sloping roof design. Therefore, most experts don’t believe this model will come as a 7-seater one day. Simply, that coupe roof ending doesn’t seem too friendly in terms of the third-row headroom.
On the other side, a new hi-performance version has been presented and should join the lineup soon. It will definitely be a part of the 2021 Audi Q8 offer. The next-year model should hit the market late in the year.
Is there a chance for 3-row model?
While some reports were suggesting a three-row version of this crossover, we don’t believe it’s gonna happen. Simply, this crossover doesn’t have enough room for such a thing. If you look at that sloping roof, there is no way that anyone would be able to sit comfortably in the third row. The legroom is also an issue. Despite that the wheelbase measure more than 117 inches, the amount of space behind the second row is pretty small. Combined with the aforementioned roof design, it provides no more than 30 cubic feet of cargo space.
All in all, we have no doubt that the next-year model will carry on as a 5-seater, with two quite comfortable rows of seats, which both offer more than 40 inches of legroom.
2021 Audi RS Q8
Without any doubt, the biggest novelty for the next year will be a new hi-performance version. It has been presented recently and, of course, it comes under the famous RS badge. The 2021 Audi RS Q8 comes with various upgrades. You may count on enhanced styling, significant chassis and suspension upgrades, including optional ceramic brakes. Still, the most interesting thing is the engine. Under the hood, you can find a well-known 4.0-liter V8, which in this case delivers 591 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. That’s just 50 horses less than the Urus. In any case, performances are spectacular. This crossover needs just about 3.7 seconds to hit 60, while the top speed is limited at 155 miles per hour.
2021 Audi Q8 Design
On the other side, standard models will carry on in the same way. That means you may count on a familiar layout, which implements the brand’s latest design language, characterized by lots of sharp angles and lines.
On the inside, you may count on one of the nicest interiors in the class, no matter which trims level you choose. Besides lots of legroom, this cabin is characterized by impressive build quality and craftsmanship, while the dashboard is very fancy.
The 2021 Audi Q8 interior will also feature a pretty impressive list of standard equipment. Currently, all models come standard with a dual-screen setup, which consists of a 10.1-inch touch screen at the top of the dashboard and an 8.6-inch touch screen directly below it. Furthermore, you may count on things like navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, Bluetooth, four USB ports, a 10-speaker stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio. In higher trims, you can also get things like quad-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and 17- and 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio systems.
When it comes to safety features, all models come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights. You can also get things like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, a head-up display and much more.
2021 Audi Q8 Engine
Other than the new RS version, the 2021 Audi Q8 will carry on with a familiar six-cylinder engine. Of course, we are talking about a 3.0-liter unit, which is good for about 335 horsepower. With such power, you may count on 0-60 time in less than six seconds. This is a pretty solid number but the area where this model really disappoints is fuel economy. You may count on just 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, which are some of the lowest ratings in the class. On the other side, an 8-speed automatic works great as always.
2021 Audi Q8 Release Date and Price
We expect to see the new model sometime late in the year. When it comes to the 2021 Audi Q8 price, the base model should go around 68.000 dollars. On the other side, the new RS model will go around 113.000 dollars.
