With news that Chevy Suburban is not entering the new generation with the 2020 season model, it was clear the 2020 GMC Yukon is coming mostly unchanged. Mostly. The company will take care of its fans by adding a few unique packages and editions to spend some time until the next-gen Yukon arrives. This full-size SUV is Suburban’s twin, so the most changes on Chevrolet’s model will be available on the GMC’s product. They don’t call them twins for no reason. Actually, we can speak of rebadging in this case.
The most impressive version in the lineup is going to be the Denali model. With all its features and price, this one belongs to the premium segment. However, the GM will also offer the Graphite and Graphite Performance editions. If you want to go off the asphalt, Yukon is ready for that too. Besides the huge gap between body and surface, the SUV also offers an AT4 package. AT stands for all-terrain. The 2020 GMC Yukon will offer a lot of standard features, with even more optional equipment waiting for an upgrade. Driver assist accessories are among the best in the class.
The 2020 GMC Yukon will carry over the full accessory list from its predecessor. There are three standard trim levels for the full-size SUV. The base model is SLE. It comes with automatic wipers, seven airbags, and park assist. You can pick lane departure warning and power-adjustable pedals as optional features. The new Yukon is also offering Bose premium audio and WiFi hotspot for every trim level.
The next trim comes in two modes – SLT and SLT Standard. Both will upgrade the SLE with lane keep and departure assist, while the rear-seat entertaining package becomes optional for this seven-seater SUV. SLT Standard then adds blind spot alert, power second row 60/40 split-folding bench, and heated steering wheel.
2020 GMC Yukon Denali Accessories
This unique package is not short with any of the features previously mentioned models are offering. The Bose audio system gets a surround sound for the 2020 GMC Yukon Denali, as well as the wireless charging. The rear-seat entertaining system is still optional, although you will spend over $70k for Denali trim. This version also brings hands-free power liftgate, IntelliBeam, and side mirrors that come with auto-dimming feature and power adjusting. 20-inch wheels are standard and 22-inchers optional.
The 2020 GMC Yukon XL is an extended version of the eight-seat SUV. The standard model is 224 inches long, and the XL adds 20 inches atop of that. The same is happening with the wheelbase, where the extended model size is 130 inches, 14 in more than the standard edition. Converted to the cargo space, it looks like this – 39 cubic feet compared to 15 cubic feet behind the third row and seating for a maximum of nine persons.
What is 2020 GMC Yukon Graphite Edition?
Last year, the GMC introduced a new package of features. It was enough to create a special, Graphite edition. This model will probably be available for the 2020 GMC Yukon, mainly because of its Performance version. The unique exterior design of the Graphite model comes with standard 22-inch wheels and grille surrounding in body color. A lot of black, chrome and glossy details are making this version easy to recognize. The SUV also upgrades the drive section with air levelers for suspension. Graphite Performance model also makes changes under the hood. In this version a 6.2-l V8 engine is standard. It pairs a 10-speed gearbox, with 2-speed active transfer case.
All-Terrain AT4 SUV
The AT4, the all-terrain 4×4 upgrade is available for the Sierra 1500 truck. However, chiefs unveiled the GMC will extend this package of off-road features to other models, including Yukon, Acadia, and Canyon truck. We can’t wait to see the full-size SUV with AT4 upgrades. With it, the 2020 GMC Yukon will compete with the new Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro. Special suspension, shocks, exhaust system, tires, and many other upgrades will make this model ride over obstacles without problems. The AT4 could lift the Yukon for a bit.
The 2020 GMC Yukon is going to use a pair of V8 engines available for all big rigs in the General Motors’ lineup. The smaller one is a 5.3-liter unit with 355 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque. It lacks some power compared to Toyota’s and Nissan’s V8. However, 6.2-l models will boost the outputs to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Maximum towing capacity for the Yukon is 8,500 pounds. However, the standard setup will offer only 6,500 lbs, and the XL model can haul 8,100 lbs. If you are looking for a budget-saving fuel economy rating, then a full-size SUV is not for you. This one returns 16-18 mpg combined, depending on engine choice, drive mode, and body type.
2020 GMC Yukon Price
The base 2020 GMC Yukon costs just under $50,000. Well, you need to add a destination fee to the MSRP value. The price for the SLT Standard is $57k, and SLT offers a choice between 5.3 and 6.2 engine. The other one is nearly $10k more expensive and it uses a 10-speed transmission, compared to a six-pace gearbox mated to a smaller engine. Yukon Denali starts at $70,000.
