The 2020 Buick Enclave will be the largest SUV behind this badge. It is a seven-seat model, and it recently launched a new generation. So, the next version is not getting too many cosmetic updates. Besides in the US, Enclave SUV is also part of Buick’s offer in China. However, it is a shorter vehicle with the two-row layout.
The 2020 Buick Enclave will keep major advantages of its predecessor. First of all, there is an excellent engine choice. A smooth and quiet ride is all you need. Also, the SUV offers a lot of technology and safety features. Cargo capacity is one of the things that will make a difference, as well as the power liftgate as the standard option. On the other hand, Buick is producing vehicles between premium and non-premium class. So, you pay more than for the standard model, but you are not getting a luxury vehicle. So, the Enclave is not stepping up with the quality of interior materials. Also, the fuel economy could be better. So, compared to Toyota Highlander, or Honda Pilot, it offers more for a higher price. But, it falls short compared to slightly more expensive Lexus RX or Cadillac XT5.
2020 Buick Enclave Avenir and Other Trim Levels
The base setup for the new Enclave comes with the Preferred package. By choosing this type of three-row model, you will get keyless functions and a lot of connectivity options for your smartphone. Three-zone climate control is a premium feature on the entry-level model. Preferred trim also offers an assist for parking. The 2020 Buick Enclave Essence adds alerts for lane change and blind zones. Leather seats are available for the first and second row. An air ionizer is a cool addition, while the infotainment system is getting a three-month trial of SiriusXM audio.
If you want more from your seven-seat SUV, you should be after the Enclave Premium package. With it, the level of everything rises. For example, audio is Bose and heated middle-row seats are standard. Alert system adds front collision warning. Automatic heating is there for front buckets. That is not all about this premium SUV since the 2020 Buick Enclave Avenir offers more than any other suite. Most notable upgrades that will take place behind this badge are a 360-degree camera and a dual power sunroof. Wireless charge spot is more popular nowadays. Also, the Avenir model is bringing the unique exterior styling with a special grille.
The color palette for the 2020 Buick Enclave will be revisited. It is one of the biggest changes we expect for next season. There will be ten paintjobs total. However, the base trim is not getting them all. Also, the Avenir model comes with unique colors that are not available for other versions. The same is happening inside the cockpit. Two exclusive schemes will be the major refresh for 2020MY.
The cockpit of the 7-seat SUV is its major advantage over the competition. Spacious and more premium than other mid-size models, the 2020 Buick Enclave interior will add some new features to refresh the offer. We love the volume of cargo space. Behind the third row, there are 24 cubic feet for storage. With the third row folded down, Enclave offers 58 cubic feet, and the volume goes up to 98 cubic-feet behind the first row.
Besides the room, we love the silence of the interior. Materials used for chassis, in combination with special windows glass makes the cabin very quiet. An eight-inch infotainment screen is the first thing you will spot inside the SUV. We also must praise the space for legs and head. The second row offers captain’s chairs.
Specs – MPG and Towing Capacity
The drivetrain for the 2020 Buick Enclave is a 3.6-liter V6 unit. Proven and reliable, this engine is a perfect choice for a mid-size seven-seat SUV. With it, you can tow up to 5,000. Besides the excellent towing capacity, Enclave also comes with good fuel economy numbers. Front-wheel drive is a standard setup and with it, the SUV returns 22 mpg. All-wheel drive configuration makes 1 mpg less. Update of materials in the chassis will make Enclave lighter, which could lead to the better mpg numbers in 2020.
2020 Buick Enclave Release Date and Price
General Motors, the parent company, is currently focused on the new SUV. Enclave, Encore, and Envision, will get a new sibling – Buick Enspire. It is an all-electric SUV that waits for production. However, the company can’t wait with updates for the existing lineup. Without too many changes, the 2020 Enclave will arrive early next season. The Enspire concept could make engineers develop a kind of hybrid model, but the GM is still quiet about it.
The base 7-seat SUV is going to keep the starting price at around $42,000. That is significantly more than all other non-premium models. Still, it is cheaper than luxury SUVs. Essence is about $45,000 while the Premium version breaches $50k mark. The 2020 Buick Enclave Avenir is over $55,000 and all-wheel drive will add $2,000 for each trim level.
